Our Blog - Lanvaudan, France

Lanvaudan is a cute little village, best known for its largely preserved low freestone houses and thatched roofs. This first house is probably the best known, with a well and a granite lion located in front. Like other thatched roofs I've seen, this one also has flowers planted on the ridge but due to the lack of rain this year, they were pretty brown. But there are quite a few thatched-roof houses in town. I guess this is the first time I've really gotten up close to see how thick the thatching is!

The Saint-Maudez church is dedicated to Saint Maudez, a monk from the 5th and 6th centuries. This church, built in 1642, replaced a 14th century church that was destroyed. It wasn't open so you only get the outside view (sorry).
