Our Blog - Second CaniPaddle lesson, Toulouse, France

This was our 2nd session at CaniPaddle, and both of us were much better today! I remembered to sit more in the middle of the paddle board and put my feet up (like I had seen our friend Tine do last week), and that worked much better. Lucy was more at-ease on the board and spent some time standing facing forward instead of always having her nose in the treat bag. As you can also see from the pictures, I was able to control the board a bit better and went out to the middle of the lake this time.

This time I tried to keep her facing forward and not needing a treat every minute, which worked out okay.

And this time, we were able to paddle out into the lake quite a bit.

Of course, every once in awhile, she would turn back around to face me, but i was still able to paddle and not feed her.

She seemed much more at ease on the board and I had a much better handle on paddling and actually moving around the lake instead of just floating around with the current and going in circles, like the first time.

She also does quite a bit of swimming now. When we weren't on the board, she liked to swim around a little bit. She also swims a bit in the lake in the park behind our apartment in the mornings.

Near the end, she was getting her balance and was standing up a little bit.

I was able to go to about the middle of the lake this time, as I felt a bit more comfortable controlling the board. And while the video looks like it is in slo-motion .. it really isn't ... I was paddling that slowly to make sure that I didn't bother Lucy too much and I was able to keep control.

And I must give kudos to my photographer, Tom, who did a nice job this time with both the pictures and the videos!

And at the end, we were all smiles!
