Apartment Hunting Blog - rue CouteliersThis one was just around the corner Oddity number one ... you come in the front door and basically the master bedroom is right on the left-hand side. It was an odd-shaped room with an angled wall and basically was only big enough for the double bed. On the angled wall, it was a floor-to-ceiling "closet" (although totally open) with shelves and places to hang clothes. Mind you ... it really is only big enough for 1 person. And the only bathroom was an ensuite in this bedroom (so when guests come, they have to go through your bedroom to shower). The bathroom was long and thin, with a BIG tub/shower at the very end, double-sinks, and a washing machine.
Then you continue down the hallway from the door into the kitchen. In this picture, you can see the angled wall which has the master bedroom on the other side. The kitchen itself was actually quite good. It had an oven and a cooktop (4 burners) with the hood over it, and then around the corner, the microwave (up in the cabinets) and dishwasher and sink. It had (again) a really good-sized refrigerator. I didn't quite get why they had these white bar-type chairs in the kitchen, since there was no bar :-)
Oddity number 2: the only toilet in the apartment is actually in the kitchen, and you have to go up a step into the room ... so it is like a "throne" ... but in the KITCHEN! Also in the kitchen is the door into the guest bedroom, although it really was more of the size of an office that had a sofa bed in. It did have a closet with a curtain over
Then you go into quite a large living room/dining room area. The living room had wood floors, an exposed brick wall as well as exposed wood beams, which was really nice.
Since we had just seen the apartment at Rue Filatiers, we scratched this off the "potential" list as we walked out the door. While the kitchen and living room were great, the bedrooms and bathroom was just, well, unacceptable. |
