Apartment Hunting Blog - rue FilatiersRight across the street from the apartment we saw on Rue Pharon was an Immoblier (real estate agency) that, like all of them in the city, had pictures/ads of the various apartments that they have for rent or sale. We had seen one that we wanted to see but when we went in to talk to them, they indicated it was already rented. But she was showing 3 other apartments to another person that day at lunch-time that met our requirements and so we went to see two more. These were both furnished apartments. As we walked through this one, we did have to look past the current tenant's things (which wasn't a big deal). This first one went to the top of our list immediately when we saw it! It ticked off a lot of the boxes on our requirements list! It is an old building (the kind that from the outside has the wood beams showing) and has a lovely courtyard that you go through and up the stairs.
Then inside the front door, you have one large room that is the living room and dining room combined. It has a set of doors that go out onto a balcony with a small table that overlooks the courtyard.
Then the kitchen, which has an opening/passthrough in the dining room, was nicely appointed for being a normally small kitchen. It had a stovetop with 4 burners at the left (under the hood), and then a dishwasher and sink. As you swing around the corner, there is a washing machine and a good-sized refrigerator. On top of the washing machine is a microwave and an oven (yes, an oven .. they have lots of these microwave-sized ovens that are not built-in). The microwave stayed but the oven did not, and we would need to purchase our own non-built-in oven (they aren't too expensive, a few hundred euros).
Then there is one bathroom although it had a nice sink/vanity and a bathtub/shower combination.
There are two bedrooms, both that fit double beds. However, neither really had much storage space and the closets were really quite small. \
So as we left this one, we were really excited. We walked around the corner to the next one. |
