Apartment Hunting Blog - rue TourneursThis was another unfurnished apartment, which is right on a pedestrian road in Centre Ville. You go through a big brown door on the street and it goes through this really nice breezeway (look at the ceiling!!) into this nice courtyard (look at the amazing decoration over that door!)
The apartment was in the middle of being moved out of by the prior tenant and so it wasn't actually "clean" .. so try to look past that. This was on the 1st floor (so 2nd American floor) without an elevator (you'll see a trend here as we go through the other apartments). It had an "American" kitchen, which means it is an open floorplan with the kitchen basically open to the living room. It had quite a large refrigerator and a ceramic stovetop with 4 burners. There was no oven or dishwasher, but there was an empty space under the sink that we could buy and install an oven, and the empty space over the sink could be a microwave.
To the right of the kitchen was a closet where the agent mentioned we could buy and install both a dishwasher and a washing machine (or washer/dryer). Mind you, I found it weird to put the dishwasher in a closet, but in the prior apartment, they mentioned putting a refrigerator in the closet. While it has a great, original decoration over the closet door, I think I would have been included to remove the closet and just add additional cabinets for a larger kitchen :-)
Now the open living room, which was actually really nice! It had the old floors that Tom really likes, and some older built-in closets. The fireplace is original although, like basically all of them in the city, does not work and is there just for looks. You can also see the same lovely decorative plaster-work above the door coming into the living room/kitchen from the hallway.
The rest of the apartment didn't really warrant pictures :-(. It had 2 smallish bedrooms with newer hardwood floors and smallish built-in closets. The bathroom had a bathtub/shower combination but again, nothing really all that great. It also had this weird closet kinda stuck in the wall behind the kitchen but it had a tiny little door that like something you would find hiding storage space underneath a set of stairs in your house. So this apartment wasn't bad, but we just felt that if you compared this one to rue Remusat, that the other one was just a bit better. This had a lot of "original" character, but also had some oddities around closets, and the bedrooms were just a bit small. |
