Our Blog - Bordeaux Golf Lesson Trip 2023We have lived in France for 6 years now. When we were living in North Carolina, we would have a golf lesson almost every month with a golf coach in Pinehurst. And while we have had a few lessons with him since we have moved, on our trips back to the US, it gets a bit more difficult to schedule the lessons. We decided to check out the Golf Training Center at the Golf du Médoc Resort, which is a bit North of Bordeaux (2 1/2 hours by car). I initially looked at the 2-day school there, but then decided that it was probably more efficient to do a duo-lesson instead. After going back-and-forth a few times to get things scheduled, we booked into the hotel for 2 nights and a duo-lesson on each of the days there, each lesson with a different instructor. The lessons ended up being fine ... we got a good feeling for each of the instructors as well as getting a few really good practice tips! We were happy with both of the instructors, and so we are thinking of going there 2 or 3 times a year for a couple days. There are TONS of things to do in that area ... plenty of golf, the beach, fresh oysters, and (of course) lots and lots of wine! During the weekend, we also visited 2 different towns. The first one is a bit north of Bordeaux, sitting right on the Gironde River. The the town of Pauillac is known as the starting point of the trip by Gilbert du Motier, the Marquis de La Fayette who fought in the American Revolutionary War, commanding American troops in several battles including the siege of Yorktown. On the way back from Bordeaux, we stopped by the Plus Beau Village of Sarrant. Plus Beau Villages are always hit-or-miss ... all of them are quite quaint and cute, but to actually visit them, some are great while others are almost literally dead. This one was on the dead-side, unfortunately. It also didn't help that we stopped by on the Labor Day (May 1st) holiday. |
