Our Blog - John and Erika's Wedding 2023Just a couple pictures here ... while we haven't made it to very many weddings, we were able to make it to John and Erika's wedding this year. John is Tom's nephew, and the wedding was held outside of Philly. No pictures of the ceremony (they actually had 2): a Ukrainian church wedding a few days earlier and then the public wedding and reception that we attended. There were 2 wedding cakes, this first one with "Scrappy" (their dog) on the bottom, and then a traditional Korovai (Ukrainian Wedding Bread). The decorations are symbolic: doves and other birds represent the married couple as well as their family, friends, and guests. They symbolize the wish for the future family growth, peace, and healthy children. Then fresh periwinkle leaves symbolize love, eternal youth, fertility, and purity. Flowers and hearts symbolize love and beauty in their lives, and the wheat stalks at the top symbolize the wish for the couple to have a rich and prosperous life.
They had a full dinner as well as a really good band for dancing. Mind you ... most of the music probably was popular before the wedding couple were born! The happy couple dancing, as well as John with his mom, Meg.
Then they had an area where we could take a few pic's (some serious, some funny!), and then a couple with some of the family.
