Our Blog - Summer 2024 Trip - White Mill, England

White Mill is a smock mill which retains its original wooden machinery. It was built in 1760 and restored between 1960 and 1961. It is surrounded by the original outbuildings and miller’s cottage. Although not a working windmill the machinery is kept in top condition and, as you can see, there is a bit of work going on. There are currently no sails attached at the top because they are being refitted.

We walked through the other buildings which included the cottage where the person who ran the mill and his family lived with exhibits showing how they lived.

And a few other rooms with equipment that would have been used by wheelwrights, cobblers, and for agricultural purposes.
