Our Blog - Paris Olympics - Mens 3m Synchronized Diving

The synchronized diving event was held at a new aquatics center in Saint Denis. I was a little shocked that this wasn't also being used for the swimming, but that was held out in La Defense in a "temporary" pool that they built inside a rugby stadium. This new pool will transition into a local community pool after the games. Here you can see it (on the right) with the Stade de France stadium (where they held the track and field events) in the background.

Inside, you can see the various diving boards and platforms. They seemed to be having an open practice when we arrived, since there were people diving from the platforms as well and ours was only the 3m springboard.

A few pictures to show the diving not-in-real-time ...

I did one in Slow motion mode and while it is blurry (not sure why), you can see a bit of how, in the beginning, the synchronization is off.

And then a couple of dives ... a Back Pike dive

Then an inward 3 1/2 somersault in a tuck

Then one that I didn't get what the dive was, but it seemed pretty good.

Here you can definitely see where the guy on the right is spinning faster than his partner.

Here is what seemed to me to be the gold medal dive!

Another couple not-good-synchronization photos.

And I will leave you with a couple final dives.
