Our Blog - Paris Olympics - Torch Relay, Toulouse France

The route of the torch came right through Toulouse, and in fact, it went right by our apartment building. However, it was on the other side of the building. We could have been down on the sidewalk with everyone else, but luckily, we had a friend with an apartment on another part of the route that had a balcony that overlooked the street. So we went over to their place for a little afternoon "torch party".

Here you see our vantage point prior to the torch coming through, with the tower of the Basilica Saint-Sernin at the end of the street.

The first thing that came through was a couple trucks for the official store of the Paris Olympics and a couple vehicles with the sponsors who were throwing out various trinkets. Not as impressive as the Tour de France procession ... this one was pretty weak from that point of view.

And now the actual torch came through, with a set of police in front and a set of others (I assume security) jogging on either side of her. Not sure exactly who specifically the person was who went by.

And that was it! You can definitely see that there were quite a few people out to watch the torch pass by (compared to the first picture where there was almost nobody on the sidewalks).
