Our Blog - CanidéPlouf 2025This is the 3rd year that our puppy school (called CaniDélite) has held a summer all-water event. The first 2 years were smaller and were at the puppy school location, but this year they expanded and held it at a Chateau estate nearby, which gave them a lot more space AND much better parking! It was held over 2 days but we only went to the Saturday activities, to be sure that Lucy enjoyed it before buying tickets for both days. They had quite a few different activities, although Lucy didn't do all of them. There is one activity called "Dock diving" where you toss a toy and the dog runs and jumps off the platform and into a large pool. We've tried to see in our little lake if Lucy might take part in this, since another Corgi in the park did it last year and loved it (they have her as the picture for Dock Diving). She will run and jump into the lake after a ball so we tried that with Lucy ... Lucy wasn't having any of that ... she would just walk around to an easier place and walk in to start swimming. Here you can see the little map ... they had a "Village" with various people selling food, treats, toys, leashes, etc. The spaces on the left-hand-side were open spaces with pools that the dogs could just go play in. The "Pool Party" area was where the activities were.
One that Lucy really enjoyed was the agility course in the pool. There were some dogs that were horrible, but Lucy got through it pretty quickly. Here you can see her coming out of one of the tunnels, and then going through a set of strings that make you go left-then-right-then-left. The hard part is getting ME through that one (I think the last picture shows Lucy saying "Mom... come'on .. you're slowing me down!".
There was also a Ball Pool, full of water and colorful balls. They gave you a plastic duck that you tossed and the dog jumped through the other balls to find it.
We've done canipaddle several times over the last few years, but there was no line, so we did the canipaddle in a large pool here.
Another game that we tried was called "Hunting Games". The pool is filled with various flowers and buckets and they would place 5 or 6 treats (that we provided) into various flowers/buckets. The dog then needed to go around and find them. Needless to say, Lucy over-achieved here, finding treats that had been placed for the OTHER dogs as well!
We also headed back into the Ball Pool with her own little ball, that she liked much more than the yellow plastic duck.
She also took a couple turns in the swimming lane, the open swimming pool, and the obstacle course. I think she enjoyed herself so I hope they continue with this event next year. I'm not sure if we would do 2 days or not, but it gets really busy as the day goes on, so being there first-thing is better than having really long lines waiting for things. |
