Our Blog - London 2025What I hope will become a yearly trip, we went to London in January, just like last year. For us, it is not a bad time to go since it is after the holidays and, while there ARE still tourists, there are less than during high season. One downfall is that some things aren't yet reopened from the holidays and we didn't look closely enough when we booked the flights or we would have realized that both the London Eye and Kensington Palace would still be closed when we were there. So we will be sure we go later in January next time so that we can pick up those two. We also will be sure we stay over a Sunday so that we can book a Sunday roast at one of the local pubs. The pictures on THIS page are just for "show" ... it was NOT sunny while we were there! We did 3 shows in the West End (1 play, 2 musicals) and a walking tour with London Walks. We also went by and looked at a few things that were nearby, and did a few nice restaurants. We will start with a very short Day 1 blog since we didn't land until lunchtime and so, we didn't do very much.
The following day, shown in our London Day 2 blog, we walked along the South Bank and did a tour of Shakespeare's Globe theater, which is a rebuilt theater as close to identical as possible to the original. Another bennie of off-season ... our group tour was a private tour! After an early pre-theater dinner, we saw Agatha Christie's play, Mousetrap.
Saturday was our last full day, and our London Day3 blog covers a few things in Hyde Park that we walked through on our way to Notting Hill. We took a London Walk of the area, and then headed back to the Theater district for our last musical, Hadestown. We splurged on a Michelin starred restaurant, Evelyn's Table, which is a very unique experience. |
