Our Blog - Lucy's JulyAnother month of summer activities for Lucy .... still a couple that were water-based but others just normal activities. We had done 2 Canipaddle sessions already this summer, and we had one more session before we left on vacation. This year has been especially difficult for lakes in the area, as most have been closed to swimming and water sports due to toxic algae/bacteria that has been found. But there are a few open and so we were able to get in our 3rd and most likely final canipaddle session of the summer. We have a large park right behind our house with a small lake. Most mornings, Lucy goes out to the park and meets up with a set of other dogs that are at the park at the same time (just when they open the park at 8am). Some are older (up to 13 years old) and some are just puppies. We also sometimes take her out in the afternoon for a short break if the weather isn't too hot. We can play a little bit with the ball and then Lucy will go cool off in the lake. Some days she has no interest at all in playing with the ball, and other days, she is absolutely obsessed with it. We tried to get a few pictures of how Lucy is with the ball, especially when we kick it.
Another water activity, again with our puppy school. They have done this activity in the prior years but we have never been able to make it. This year, they enlarged the event, made it 2 days, and held it at a large chateau just north of town, which gave them a lot more space. It is called the 2025 CaniDePlouf event ... the "CaniDe" part being for the name of the puppy school (CaniDelite) and Plouf being the sound of that something makes going into water with a splash. A part-water-part-play day, our puppy school had a day that was a "Corgi-Day", where Corgi's could meet and play in the area. There was a pool, some agility equipment, and a bunch of space. Some of our "Corginade" group attended, but there were also a few new Corgi's that we hadn't met before at the CaniDelete Corgi Day Event. The day after the Corgi Meet-up, our little group of Corgi's also did a Corginade (the french word "promenade" which is to stroll/walk/hike is shortened and stuck at the end of Corgi to make a Corginade. There weren't as many dogs as we sometimes have, but I suspect it was due to a combination of a lot of them attending the meet-up at our puppy school the day before and the fact that we are right in the middle of the summer school vacation. But we had a nice small group that had a good time playing together, finding smelly stuff to roll in, and running down the hill to walk/swim at the edge of the Garonne River, which runs alongside the park that we went to. I didn't take many pictures during the walk but I did grab a picture and small video at the very end. This is Lucy with one of the other puppies that we see at the park next to our house in the mornings, playing with a stick that we found and threw.
